Hazel got a Halloween card in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa Davidson. The card mentions her being special. Hazel said that she was not special. This took me by surprise so I started asking her specific things about herself. Are you a sweet wonderful girl? Are you smart? Do you always try to do the right thing? She said yes to everything I asked, but she still was not special. I finally got smart and asked her what would make her special. Apparently she will not be special until she “can read all words” like me and Daddy. It doesn’t matter that she can read at least one hundred words, but she’ll learn more words and then, then she will be special in her own eyes.
