This is one of the few posts that survived the blow up because I had the contents some place else. I still feel it has merit and I am reposting it now. This was posted in December of 2007.

In parenting class I was asked to write six life lessons or messages I wanted to leave my children with. So this is what I said, and following what I said is what a fellow student, Gloria, said. I really liked what she had to say and wanted to remember it.

Ruth R. Davidson:
1: Have charity, described as: “And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. . . . charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him” (Book of Mormon, Moroni 7:45 & 7:47)

2: There is no failure, only learning experiences before success.

3: Pray always. In that, you will receive guidance from your Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost.

4: Have faith, hope, and trust, in your Heavenly Father and in Jesus Christ, and in those that you love. Fear is the opposite of faith.

5: Communication is the key to all relationships.

6: Love is a choice. Love takes work. Keep working on love.

Gloria Rodriguez:
Self-discipline – Demonstrate hard work by giving your best. Show perseverance through your commitment and hard work.

Courage – Do the right thing in face of difficulty and follow your conscience.

Honesty — Be trustworthy and reliable. Have the courage to do the right thing. Be loyal to your family, friends and country.

Respect — Treat others with respect and as you would want to be treated. Be tole
